Plank takes over as council president

Appleton has a new city council president. Members picked Ald. Kathy Plank for the job, in a unanimous vote last night.

Plank represents the 7th district, covering parts of northeast side. She became the chair of the city's finance committee last year. She says she delved into the budget, and tried to help people with questions.

Plank was also the council's vice-chair for the last two years. She was first elected to the council, in 2009.

Ald. Peter Stueck will be the new vice-chair. Plank is succeeding Ald. Chris Croatt as the council president. He spent two years in that position.
