Referendum projects set for summer

Construction crews will get to work on a number of referendum-related projects, once the school year is over in Appleton.

District Chief Financial Officer Don Hietpas says they've spent the last two months working with design firms to finalize the plans. He says most of the projects should be done by the start of the next school year.

Hietpas says they're going to focus on projects that will improve security in a number of buildings. He says they also plan to renovate several science labs and tech ed areas, over the summer break.

Hietpas says it will probably take longer to replace windows, and complete some other projects. He says they're going to make sure any work, during the school year, doesn't impact students in the classroom.

Last night, the school board approved about $25 million in loans for the various referendum projects.
