Greenville student a 'Google Doodle' finalist

A third-grader at Greenville elementary school is in the running, in a national contest by Google.

The website sometimes has "Google Doodles" on the front page. Nine-year-old Vinessa Verheyen finished first in Wisconsin, for her grade level, for her "Google Doodle."

She had to answer the question of what would she invent, to make the world a better place. Verheyen says she drew a cloud plow that moves clouds, to produce solar energy on the ground. She says the plow would take the clouds to areas that need rain.

The exhaust from the plow makes up the first "G" in Google, and the wheels make up the two "Os" and second "G." The plow is the "L" and the edge of the first cloud is the "E."

There are finalists from all 50 states, and an online voting contest will narrow the list to five. Judges at Google will then pick the winner.
