State moves up in bike-friendly rankings

Wisconsin jumped from eighth to third in a ranking of the most bicycle friendly states.

The League of American Bicyclists rated each state, based on bike-friendly laws, policies, planning, and infrastructure.

Mike Kading is the president of Fox Cities Greenways, and he credits local community groups for their efforts. He says Appleton is taking on a leadership role in bike lanes, and other communities are focusing on multi-use paths.

Washington is ranked No. 1, and Minnesota is second.
