Bike corral in place on College Avenue

A new bike corral is in place along College Avenue in downtown Appleton.

It's a six-month pilot program to provide parking for bikes. The corral is in front of Harmony Cafe, and local leaders, and bike enthusiasts, got together this morning for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Rob Gusky is the president of the Fox Cities Cycling Association. He says the corral has room for ten bikes, and he hopes it will be filled every day.

The corral will be moved to a parking garage, next to the City Center, at the end of September, so people can use it in the winter.

Gusky says city leaders will decide whether to continue the program. Gusky says they raised $1,700 through private donors to pay for the project.

The city installed the corral and provided a parking space for it.
