Project planned for downtown Neenah

A housing and retail development could be coming to downtown Neenah.

The four-story project would be across the street from the former Glatfelter mill site, and the footprint includes the Under the Dome bar.

Community development director Chris Haese says Horizon Development and Stadtmueller and Associates would apply for a series tax credits. He says some of the apartments would be set aside for people with lower incomes.

The plans call for 51 apartments on the upper three floors. There would be retail space on the first floor. The city would have to buy Under the Dome from its owner, new Mayor Dean Kaufert.

Haese says developers plan to reach out to the community, through public meetings. He says construction wouldn't start until the fall of next year.
