Wis. drivers hit hard by bad credit

Car insurance can cost up to 80 percent more in Wisconsin, if you have a bad credit score.

A national study by WalletHub shows that ranks 12th highest in the country.

CEO Odysseas Papadimitriou says he knew insurance companies used credit scores to determine their rates, but the figures still surprised him.

He says the rates varied from state-to-state, based on state rules, for using credit scores. The study compared quotes from the five largest car insurance companies.
