DNR expanding bobcat hunting range

Hunters have been shooting and trapping bobcats for years, in the northwoods, and the DNR is expanding the bobcat hunt to the entire state this year.

John Olson is an ecologist for the agency. He says bobcat numbers are growing across the state, and there's a large enough population to support a hunt.

The bobcat hunt will be divided into two zones. The northern zone, north of Highway 64, has a quota of around 240 bobcats. The hunters in the new southern zone will be able to shoot or trap 45 of the animals.
