Home sales continue slump in May

Home sales in the state continue to lag behind last year.

Wisconsin Realtors Association president Mike Theo says for the fifth straight month, monthly sales were down. Statewide, they dropped about seven percent, compared to May of last year. But Theo says the median price was up by nearly four percent, to around $150,000 dollars.

He says sales slipped by about a tenth of a percent in the northeast region, but sales prices climbed by about 5.5 percent. The median price, in the northeast region was over $133,000.

Theo says he expected to see better sales numbers in May, following a cold winter and spring. He blames federal government officials, for talking about changing lending standards.
