Consultant recommends indoor sports facility

A new indoor sports complex could help fill a void in what the Fox Cities has to offer for groups that hold sports tournaments.

That's one of the finding in a report that an Arizona consulting firm completed for the Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Bureau executive director Pam Seidl says the recommendation calls for a facility with eight wood courts. She says they could be used for basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, or other competitions.

The report also calls for upgrading the USA sports complex and the two local ice arenas.

The price tag would be around $24 million, and the consultants recommend increasing the room tax to pay for it. Seidl says it's too soon to say what they might pursue.
