Hortonville celebrates music program

Hortonville high school's music program is getting some national attention again.

The district received the "Top Communities for Education" award from a national group, for the 11th straight year. And band director Greg Thorton says their marching band is heading to Washington D.C. next week to perform in the national Independence Day parade.

Thorton says they're also going to play at the World War II memorial, and a veterans home.

The band celebrated yesterday afternoon by holding a performance in the parking lot of the new village hall.

More than a dozen other districts around the state also received the national award, including Kimberly and Chilton.

Green Bay East's marching band will be in the national parade as well.
