Plea deal in Howard murder

A Brown County murder trial was cancelled yesterday, after the defendant reached a plea deal.

A 44-year-old Howard woman was supposed to stand trial for the shooting death of her boyfriend. Tricia Phillips reached a deal with prosecutors, and a judge convicted her of second-degree reckless homicide, and aggravated battery.

Court records say she was arguing with 46-year-old David Rosenberg, last August, when she shot him at her apartment.

Phillips is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
