Motorcycle fatalities at 36 thru June

The number of motorcycling fatalities is about average, so far this year.

DOT safety coordinator Greg Patzer says they had 36 over the first six months. He says the first fatality this year happened in late April. He says in the near-record year of 2012, the first one was recorded in March.

The cycling season got off to a very early start in 2012 because of record warm temperatures.

Patzer says typically, July and August are the most dangerous months for motorcyclists.
