Grand Chute reaches compromise with motel

A compromise between Grand Chute officials and the owner of a motel, could allow longtime residents to stay.

The town cracked down on the Northern Inn in May, for violating a zoning rule that bans people from staying at a motel for an extended time.

Officials said there were a number of fire code violations at the motel, and other safety issues.

Grand Chute administrator Jim March says the town will drop the issue, if the owner brings the motel up to code and improves security, by the next town board meeting.

Town officials initially told the people living in the motel that they would need to find a new place to stay.
