Petri wants highway funding fixed

A longtime Congressman wants a long-term solution for funding federal highway projects.

Republican Congressman Tom Petri of Fond du Lac supported a proposal to cover construction work, through May of next year. The Highway Trust Fund is expected to run out of money, next month.

Petri says Congress is kicking the can down the road again. He says federal lawmakers need to find a sustainable revenue source for the fund.

The House passed a bill yesterday, and the Senate is working on a different version.
