LU leader marks 1 year on campus

The first full year is in the books for Lawrence University's new president.

Mark Burstein took over at the beginning of July, last year. He says he's impressed with the Appleton area, and how welcoming the community has been.

Burstein says he's spent time trying to get to know students and staff members, throughout the last year. He says he held three different sessions of open office hours, so students could stop in and talk. He says they were all over-booked.

Burstein was an administrator at Princeton University, before he came to Lawrence. He says he has more time to interact with students, now that he's at a smaller school.
