Schroeder running for 55th Assembly seat

A loan administrator is in the race for a spot in the Assembly.

Jay Schroeder of the town of Menasha is one of five Republicans in next Tuesday's primary, for the 55th district seat. He's a frequent candidate for public office, and he challenged outgoing Republican Rep. Dean Kaufert two years ago.

Schroeder says he'd push to eliminate the state's income tax to help create jobs. He says he also wants to put term limits in place.

He'll face John Lehman, Ryan Pheifer, Steven Gillespie, and Mike Rohrkaste in the primary. Kaufert isn't running for re-election, after he was elected as Neenah's mayor.
