Neenah boy pulled from water died

A six-year-old Neenah boy was pronounced dead, about a half-hour after he was pulled from the water, near Neenah's Riverside Park last evening.

Police Chief Kevin Wilkinson says the Neenah Menasha Fire Rescue dive team found Elijah Vanderhoof shortly after 5:30 p.m. He was taken to Theda Clark Medical Center, by ambulance.

Wilkinson says the boy's mother noticed that he was missing around 4:15 p.m. and she called police about 15 minutes later, when she still couldn't find him. He says it's unclear why the boy went into the water.

Wilkinson says it's a tragic accident.
