Appeals court upholds gay marriage ruling

A federal appeals court is siding with supporters of gay marriage.

A three-judge panel unanimously upheld a decision that threw out the state's ban on same-sex marriage. Federal Judge Barbara Crabb ruled in June that the state's amendment was unconstitutional.

Katie Belanger is the executive director of Fair Wisconsin, and she says it's an extremely clear ruling that the constitutional amendment violates the right to equal protection.

Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen plans to take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Julaine Appling is the president of Wisconsin Family Action, and she says she's looking forward to Wisconsin joining the other states that are on the fast track to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Hundreds of same-sex couples got married in the week after Crabb issued her decision. Crabb later put her ruling on hold, pending the state's appeal.
