Governor looking at tax cut options
While he puts together the next state budget, Governor Walker says he's weighing what type of tax cut could have the biggest impact on the economy.
He says if he decides to reduce income taxes, he would predominately target the middle class, because the current code puts the burden on them.
The governor says other options include a property tax break,
and relief for small businesses. He says he'd like to do something for small businesses, because they're more likely to reinvest their savings, and hire more employees.
The governor was at ACE Marine in Green Bay yesterday afternoon, to talk with workers about what areas to focus on, in the next budget.
It was the first stop on his "Talk with Walker" tour, and he says he wants to visit various locations, instead of holding big public meetings. The governor says special interest groups from both sides of the political spectrum can dominate public forums.
Much of the focus during yesterday's budget talk was on training workers for skilled jobs, and encouraging young people to consider those careers.
