UW launches flexible degree program

A new degree program from the UW-System is targeting people who have some college credits, or on-the-job experience in certain areas.

Under the Flexible Option, students can earn credits, and a degree, by testing out of certain subjects.

UW Milwaukee will be the first to launch it, by offering four degrees and one certificate program, in the fall of next year. UW-Fox Valley and the other 12 two-year campuses will also provide general education and liberal arts courses that people could test out of.

Governor Walker says they want to make it easier for people to complete their degree, using their life experiences. He left Marquette University before he graduated, after receiving a job offer, and he says it's something he'd consider.

The UW-System plans to add more degrees at the various campuses, starting in the fall of 2014.
