U.S. Marshals looking for sex offenders
Law enforcement agencies in Brown County are partnering with the U.S. Marshals service to make sure registered sex offenders are abiding by the rules of the state's sex offender registry.
Kevin Carr is the marshal assigned to eastern Wisconsin. He says there are about 340 registered sex offenders in Brown County, that are not on parole, or any other kind of supervision. Of those, about 12 of them are not living where they are listed on the registry. Carr says it's important to track them down.
Carr says a similar operation in Outagamie County last year, led to six felony state charges, for violating the state's sex offender registry law. One person faced federal charges.
