Knuth family, Kimberly schools, find solution
The Kimberly school district and a Darboy family have an agreement for a 6-year-old boy, who's family lives in the Kaukauna school district, to get school services from Kimberly.
Charlie Knuth attended a Kimberly school last year, but he was in a Minnesota hospital because of a rare skin condition, for the beginning of the current school year. Kimberly Superintendent Bob Mayfield says because Knuth's family isn't in the Kimberly district, missing the first part of the year complicated the open enrollment process.
Mayfield says Knuth's parents have to enroll Charlie in the Kaukauna school district and apply for open enrollment. He says Kimberly will accept the request, and he should be getting services by the end of the week.
Knuth will need some in-home instruction, and the Kaukauna school district will pick up that added cost.
