Consumer protection warns of gift card scam
The FBI is warning people not to buy gift cards from auction or classified-ad web sites, where the price is significantly lower than the value of the card.
Wisconsin Consumer Protection Administrator Sandy Chalmers says consumers should never give their credit card numbers, bank account information, or wire money to a person who advertises items at a price that's too good to be true.
She says it's best to buy gift cards directly from the retailer, or a trusted source.
Gift card sales are expected to account for about $28 billion in holiday sales.
