Health officials ensure flu shot is safe
There's no need to fear the flu vaccine.
That's the message from health care providers across the state, as the flu season gets off to a fast start this year. Infectious disease specialist Nasia Safdar says getting immunized against the flu is no guarantee you can't pick up some sort of virus this winter.
She says the vaccine will protect you against the flu, and it's safe.
Safdar says the injectable flu vaccine has no live virus in it, so there's no way it can give you the flu.
