Petri pushing student loan repayment bill
Student loan payments would come directly out of paychecks, 
under a plan from a Fond du Lac Republican.
Sixth district Congressman Tom Petri says the student loan default rate is increasing, and something needs to be done.
His proposal would withhold up to 15 percent of wages, if someone is making at least $16,000 a year. That's 150 percent of the poverty level.
Petri says student loan debt tops credit card debt in the U.S. and it's now more than a $1 trillion. He says that could eventually be placed on the government's debt.
Petri is introducing the bill now, so lawmakers have time to think it over, before the new session starts next year.
