Average property tax levy up slightly
Property tax levies are climbing by a small percentage next year.
The Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance crunched the numbers, and researcher Dale Knapp says on average, overall levies will go up by 0.7 percent. He says that compares to 0.2 percent last year, but before then, the hikes typically were in the three-to-five percent range.
Knapp says the actions that were taken in the current state budget, including the levy restraints, are the biggest reason for the small increase this year.
