Group holding Little Tumor fundraiser
A local non-profit group is holding a gala tonight in downtown Appleton.
The event will benefit the Littlest Tumor Foundation, a local group that's dedicated to building awareness and finding a cure for neurofibromatosis. It's a genetic disorder that prevents the body's tumor suppressors from working properly.
Founder Tracy Wirtanen says they'll have a number of activities at the fundraiser, including an ugly sweater contest and a silent auction.
Wirtanen says the organization has been around since 2010, and one of their annual events is a wellness retreat for families effected by NF.
The fundraiser is at the Copper Rock coffee shop, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight.
