Wis. Ave. project wins national award
The Wisconsin Avenue reconstruction work in Appleton was
the top municipal concrete street project in the country last year.
Kevin McMullen of the Wisconsin Concrete Pavement Association says it won the Gold Award, from their national organization, earlier this month.
He says the College Avenue project in the downtown also won that award, 10 years ago.
McMullen says Wisconsin Avenue looks very similar to College Avenue, except College Avenue has colored crosswalks.
The Wisconsin Avenue project lasted for two years, and it impacted dozens of businesses between Richmond Street and Ballard Road. McMullen says they also won because of the cooperation between the contractors and business owners.
