City still seeking donations for Houdini Plaza

The city of Appleton still needs to raise about $140,000 for the Houdini Plaza renovation project.

Work is scheduled to start next month, and community development director Karen Harkness says she's confident they'll reach their $500,000 goal. The project will cost about $1.5 million, and the city is paying for two-thirds of that.

Harkness says they need to finish the construction by June 15th.

The Appleton Octoberfest group recently presented a $100,000 check to the city. Harkness says Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and Principal Financial were among the latest companies to contribute.
