Clemons won't run for council re-election
A fixture on the Appleton city council isn't going
to run for another term.
Ald. Jim Clemons filed his official paperwork with the city clerk's office this morning, declaring that he won't seek re-election in the 13th district next spring.
The district covers parts of the city's northeast side.
Clemons has spent about two decades on the council, making him the longest-serving member. He says it's time to take a break, and give someone else a chance. He says he has a lot of stuff to catch up on, and he's not sure he has enough time to dedicate to the council.
Kyle Lobner is currently the only registered candidate in the 13th district.
Clemons spent a number of years as the chair of the community and economic development committee, and he says he'll always remember the work of the staff. Among other things, the agency divides federal funding for non-profit groups.
Clemons is leaving open the possibility of running for the council again, in the future.
