Walker recall a top state story in 2012

Wisconsin voters were busier than normal this year, because of the recall race for governor.

Just 1-1/2 after he was sworn into office, Governor Walker was on the ballot again. The unprecedented election was on the top stories in the state, in 2012.

Opponents launched a petition drive, over the governor's move to eliminate nearly all of the collective bargaining rights of most public workers. They turned in more than 900,000 signatures.

After Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett topped three other Democrats in a May primary, he faced Walker on June 5th. Walker won the rematch of the 2010 election, 53 to 46 percent.

Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch also survived the recall attempt, but Democrats took control of the state Senate for several months, by winning one of four Senate races.
