Airline fees not always clear online

The airfare on the travel website can sound like a good deal, but a consumer protection specialist says beware of hidden costs, such as baggage and seating charges.

Jim Dick of the consumer protection department says a report that shows it's more difficult for travelers to compare airfares has a lot to do with booking online. He says the cheap airfare that's listed is usually just the starting point.

He says it's important to do all of the research, so you don't end up feeling taken advantage of.

Dick says in the past, we relied more on travel agents and airline representatives, and they simply told us how much the total price would be.
