DOJ: Background checks for handguns spiking

People in Wisconsin bought a lot of handguns this year.

Figures from the state justice department show they've received nearly 133,000 requests for handgun purchase background checks, and that's up 60 percent from last year.

David Zibolski is a deputy administrator for the agency. He says the rush for handguns started after the concealed carry law passed. He expects the demand for handguns to remain high.

Zibolski says DOJ had to hire some extra workers to keep up with demand, after the concealed carry law took effect.
