State warns about flooded hurricane cars
After Hurricane Katrina, some flood-damaged cars made their way to Wisconsin, and the DOT is concerned that might happen again next year, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
Linda Lewis of the DMV's bureau of vehicle services says car buyers should be careful, because those vehicles can have a number of issues.
Car dealers are required to clearly label flood-damaged vehicles, and there's a disclosure law for private sellers. Lewis says buyers should check a vehicle's history report, and possibly have a mechanic take a look at the car.
