Appleton adding patrols for New Year's
Appleton police will have extra officers in the downtown,
and patrolling the streets, on this New Year's Eve.
Sgt. Pat DeWall says their goal isn't to go out an arrest a bunch of people. He says they hope to encourage them to find other ways to get home, besides getting behind the wheel.
DeWall says over the years, they've definitely seen attitudes change about drinking and driving. He says it's not just on New Year's Eve, but throughout the year.
