UW gets grant for smoking study
A $10 million grant will help state researchers find the most successful ways to quit smoking.
The UW-Madison Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention is looking for up to 800 smokers, to go along with the 1,500 participants in a study that started seven years ago.
Dr. Michael Fiore says about one-third of the initial group kicked the habit. He says participants will get free medicine, coaching, counseling, and medical tests.
