State Legislature returning to work
The next two-year session of the state Legislature gets under way today.
Lawmakers will be sworn in, this afternoon.
Incoming Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says he hopes lawmakers will "focus like a laser beam" on helping the private sector create new jobs. He says he wants to work with Democrats on issues that are important to the state.
Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca hopes GOP leaders stand by that promise. He says along with jobs, lawmakers need to improve the education system.
