GOP sets priorities as new session starts
Passing a balanced budget, without any tricks or hidden deficits, is the top goal of Republicans, now that the new Legislature is in place.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says they could also push for some reforms.
Republicans are in complete control at the Capitol again, with majorities in both houses of the Legislature and Governor Walker in the state's top office.
The Juneau Republican says a mining bill will likely come up for a vote in March. He says he doesn't expect to see any highly controversial proposals, like the collective bargaining law that the governor proposed two years ago.
