Assembly could end late-night debates
Republicans in charge of the Assembly are considering a ban on late-night votes.
Speaker Robin Vos says lawmakers in the minority party have been dragging debates into all hours of the night in recent years, and it's not productive.
A draft of the new rules is expected to be released today, and the Assembly will take them up on Thursday.
Vos says this session won't be as controversial as the last one, and he won't take up a right-to-work bill. He says even if a lawmaker introduces a proposal, he will not schedule it for a vote.
Vos says he wants members of the chamber to focus on issues that will improve the state's economy and increase the size of the workforce, rather than controversial proposals that divide the state.
