Lambeau Field atrium plans revealed

The Lambeau Field atrium is in line for a major facelift.

Packers President Mark Murphy revealed a more than $140 million project yesterday to renovate and expand the atrium, and some of the team facilities. He says they're paying for it, using traditional borrowing, and a loan from the NFL. No public funding is involved.

The plans call for expanding the lower level, beneath the current main atrium entrance, to make room for a larger Pro Shop. Murphy says there will be ground level access from the outside.

Curly's Pub is moving to the current Pro Shop space, and the Packers Hall of Fame will go from the basement, to Curly's current location, on the second floor.

Murphy says they're also adding a second atrium entrance, on the east side of the stadium.

The plans also call for improving the Oneida Nation gate, and moving the players parking lot just to the south of that gate.

Work on the gate, and the team facilities will start in March. Construction on the atrium won't begin until February of next year. The project will be finished in June, 2015.
