Flu season may be approaching peak

The flu season hit hard earlier this year in northeast Wisconsin, and local hospitals are still busy treating people with typical illnesses.

ThedaCare infection preventionist Miki Gould says they're seeing plenty of people with respiratory illnesses like the influenza and pneumonia, and stomach illnesses like norovirus. She says a lot of people in the Valley are sick right now, but that's not unusual for this time of year.

Gould says we could be a couple of weeks away from the peak of the flu season, and it's not too late to get a flu shot.

Gould says this year's flu season may seem more severe than normal, but that's likely because last year's was so mild.
