Gambling hotline takes more calls

A gambling hotline had more calls last year than the year before, but the average size of the debt people reported was down substantially.

Rose Gruber is the executive director of the Green Bay-based Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling. She says the total was $160,000 in 2011, and it dropped to about $40,000 last year. Gruber says it's possible the real number is higher because not every caller reveals that information.

The total number of calls to the anonymous hotline topped 14,000 last year. That's an eight percent increase from 2011.
