1157th back in U.S., coming home soon
After spending nine months in Afghanistan, about 125
soldiers from an Oshkosh-based unit of the Wisconsin National Guard should be home in several days.
The 1157th Transportation Company arrived earlier this week at Camp Shelby in Mississippi, for the demobilization process. There are plans for a welcome home celebration when they make it back to northeast Wisconsin.
The unit logged about 1.8 million miles, hauling equipment through the northern, eastern, and central regions of Afghanistan.
