United Way meets campaign goal

More people need help meeting their basic needs in the Fox Valley, and the public stepped up, through a fundraising challenge by the United Way Fox Cities.

Spokeswoman Nanci Micke says they set a fundraising goal of $7.3 million last year, and last night, officials announced that they've exceeded it. Micke says they don't have the final numbers yet, but the contribution from the public is amazing.

Micke says the money will help fund more than 100 local programs, and many of them provide food, shelter, and other basic needs. She says even though the economy is improving in the Fox Cities, calls to 211 for assistance are increasing.
