Groups trying to keep homeless out of cold
The mercury dipped into the single digits overnight, and local homeless advocates are trying to make sure that nobody is sleeping outside.
Chris Lashock of the Emergency Shelter of the Fox Valley says they go out and check under bridges, and other areas where homeless people might be living, to try to convince them to go to a shelter for the night.
He says it they refuse, the shelter makes sure they have enough hats, gloves, hand warmers, and blankets to keep warm.
Brad Vivoda of the Fox Valley Warming says some people who normally weather the elements, will come in when it gets very cold.
Vivoda says on average, about 20 people are spending the night at the warming shelter, this winter.
