Lawmaker reacting to unemployment proposal
Proposed rule changes by Governor Walker would make it more difficult to get, and keep, unemployment benefits, and an Appleton Democrat says she's concerned.
Rep. Penny Bernard Schaber says the unemployed would have to jump through more hoops by forcing them to apply for more jobs and limit the ways they could qualify for the aid.
Bernard Schaber says she's very interested in another unemployment proposal, from Sen. Julie Lassa of Stevens Point, called Workshare. She says it would keep people working, but on reduced hours.
Bernard Schaber says the proposed changes from Governor Walker were based on a report from a board of small business owners.
