Wis. Dems preparing for 2014 election

The state Democratic Party wants to get an early start, on the 2014 race for governor.

Executive director Mike Tate says they're going to invest $500,000 to organize, and build on President Obama's successful campaign.

The party will hire regional directors in Green Bay, La Crosse, and Eau Claire. Tate says it's part of their 72-County Strategy, in hopes that they can compete against Governor Walker, across the state.

There aren't any candidates in place yet, to challenge the governor, but Tate says the field should start shaping up later this year.

Tate says they're also hoping the early investment will help Democrats in Assembly and Senate races.
