Wahl: City workers should get MLK Day off
Appleton city employees would get the day off
on Martin Luther King Day, in future years, if a city council member gets his way.
Ald. Christoph Wahl is proposing that the city fully recognize the national holiday, by offering the benefit. He says about one-third of employers around the country have done that, since former President Reagan created the holiday in 1983.
The city council will have the final say. Wahl says members have plenty of time to make a decision, before next year's holiday.
