Three area cities join WEDC program
Three cities in the area are taking part in a new state program that's designed to revitalize their downtowns and urban commercial districts.
Tom Thieding of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation says Menasha, Berlin, and Chilton are among 20 of the first communities to benefit.
He says they did open up the "Connect Communities" program to larger cities, but they often have more money available for economic development efforsts.
Thieding says "Connect Communities" is a compliment to their existing Main Street program. He says that program focuses on historic and traditional downtown business districts.
